Renovations Capital Campaign

Plano Bible Chapel has a history of being a church that is passionate about God and passionate about people. However, PBC may still be one of the best kept secrets around. It’s time we did a little more to show our passion for God and for others.

As we seek to become Salt in our community and a Light for the Kingdom of God, it’s time we did a few more things to reveal the heart that we have for the Lord. It’s appropriate that we boast about God and proclaim what He has done.

While we continue to improve our verbal and practical witness in our community, it’s time for us to address the non-verbal witness of our facilities. Our external facilities need to match the internal love we have for Christ and for the people He created.

As believers, God invites us to join Him in what He’s doing in the Kingdom. One of the main ways we can show our passion, shine our light, glorify God, and live by faith is through our financial giving.
When our hearts are with God in our attitude toward giving, we’re utilized by Him with our gifts. When we trust God in sacrificial giving, our hearts are moved toward Him and His Kingdom work.

Over the next year, we ask you to prayerfully consider giving to the Lord to improve the witness of our facilities. Let’s show our heart for God and passion for people by updating the witness of our facilities in our community and to our guests.

We’re standing at a threshold -- one that will open doors and prepare PBC for what God has in store for us a His church and His people. And through that door more people will be invited in, more lives will be touched, and more stories of God’s passion will be shared -- and all along the way, we’ll show the passion we have for Him and for His creation.

What is the vision of PBC? With God’s strength and provision, PBC will continue to expand and maximize its ministries and campus with the desire to plant churches in Collin County and plant a Hispanic Church in East Plano. Renovating and updating the witness of our current facilities will position us for future growth and ministry.

What is the purpose of the campaign? The purpose is to bring to life a spiritual response to the growing needs of our aging facilities. As we meet the challenge of this call and commitment, God in His grace will bless us in all areas where we connect with Him.

How will the funds from the capital campaign be used? Depending on the total amount raised, we anticipate renovating carpet in major areas, main bathroom renovations including handicap accessibility, auditorium lighting/visual appearance/media, and many other projects prioritized by a renovations team.

How much does our church family expect to raise to meet the current needs? Our renovations team has projects estimated up to $500,000 and beyond. We hope to raise this amount above our regular giving over the next 12 months. This amount does not include $100,000 that God already provided to replace Air Conditioners, roof shingles, and to renovate the fellowship hall bathrooms over the last nine months.

Will our regular giving be reduced because of this campaign? We are asking you to pray and ask God how He would have you and your family give over and above your regular offering to PBC. Consequently, the regular giving should not be affected. The general fund supports the ministries of our church. The general fund allows us to effectively reach out to our community and our world while at the same time allowing us to minister to our church family. We are renovating so we can be more effective in ministry, we certainly do not want to sacrifice ongoing ministry in the process.

How will I know how much to give? The amount you give is between you and the Lord. We are asking everyone to pray and ask the Lord what He would have you give. Of course, what you give to the capital campaign should be in addition to your regular giving to PBC and to missions. The Macedonian churches referred to by Paul in 2 Corinthians 8:1-5 set a challenging example. God moved individuals in those churches to give “in rich generosity.”
They determined how much to give in the same way that each of us will determine how much we should give – “And they did not do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God’s will” (2 Cor. 8:5). “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor. 8:7).

Why am I being asked to make a commitment? Commitments are important for at least two reasons. First, responsible planning requires that the leadership and renovations team have a clear idea of the amount of money that will be raised over the course of the one-year capital campaign. Significant decisions are contingent upon how much is pledged. The amount pledged also serves as another confirmation of the Lord’s leading. Finally, a pledge made prayerfully in faith becomes a tremendous source of praise and blessing as God’s faithfulness and provision allow the pledge to be fulfilled.

How will I give my commitment? On Sunday, June 15, individuals and families will turn in a one-year commitment card at the end of the regular worship services.

Will my commitment be made public? No. This is not just a financial issue; it’s a spiritual matter between you and God. In the same way giving is kept confidential every Sunday, so the pledges will be kept confidential. A few deacons will total the commitments but individual amounts will not be recorded by name. Individual commitments will never be made public.

What if I have more questions? Any of the Renovation Team members, Elders, or Deacons are available to answer your questions.
